Normally on this day I am posting something witty about it being Star Wars day…

But I thought this year I would do something different.

But I thought this year I would do something different.

One of the hallmark ideas that flows throughout the Star Wars saga is that there is an all encompassing force that surrounds everything and everyone. So I pondered on this briefly yesterday.

I had the opportunity to lead an in person project meeting with a cross functional group and we got onto the topic of the Characteristics of A Process. Have you ever led an exercise like this? I would love to hear about it.

Basically I ask two questions; How does this process currently feel? How should this process feel?

It requires courage for people to speak what is on their mind in these types of conversations because if there isn’t any psychological safety in the workplace it could go sideways really fast or absolutely nowhere.

But thankfully, this team has a leadership group that is genuinely concerned with their well-being and takes the time to meet with these individuals regularly. They were very forthcoming with their thoughts about both sides of how this process feels and should feel.

This is no simple and straightforward feat in my opinion. Having the courage to step up and let your voice be heard when it comes to how a process is leaving you feeling is huge. Maybe this is one aspect of the force that we could all adopt into our lives.

I also believe that this is the pathway to building inner harmony and work:life harmony. When you feel safe to be yourself and bring your thoughts and ideas forward without fearing any negative impact, you probably have a sense of peace with where you are in the world.

Do you have the courage to step up and say something when it may not be what others want to hear? Can you do it without alienating the other people? Can you position it in a way that helps everyone move forward?

If you can answer yes to all of those questions you are well on your way to being able to incorporate the force of courage into your being and finding that work:life harmony I talked about.

If you can’t answer yes yet but want to, drop me a PM and let’s have a conversation.

I will leave you how I always do on Star Wars day, May the 4th be with you.
