Giving birth to a baby is easier than worrying about it

案ずるより産むが易しい (Anzuru yori umu ga yasashii)

English Translation: Giving birth to a baby is easier than worrying about it.

Meaning: Fear is greater than the danger. / An attempt is sometimes easier than expected.

I personally haven’t given birth or have children and am definitely not a doctor. So I am not an expert, but I imagine that there is a lot of things to think about and be concerned about as it relates to childbirth and raising children.

I would go so far as to say, if everyone in the world worried about all of the things that could go wrong with childbirth and raising kids that many people probably wouldn’t do it. The fear might be just too much. But on the flip side, the danger likely is not very high due to improvements in health care practices and such.

Translate this into your professional life, how many times have you not done something because you feared it would be too hard or the thought of bringing that idea to life that you’ve had for decades is just debilitating?

“Anything can frighten. One allows oneself to be frightened by what one does not expect”

– Miyamoto Musashi

If you are like me, likely you have had instances like this in your life.  We often put a lot of energy into worrying about what will or won’t happen. What we fail to realize often is that the hard work is already done and there really isn’t that much to be afraid of.

We have already set the idea in motion by having it in the first place, now we just need to get out of our own way to allow the idea to come to be. Showing up is arguably a big part of the key to success, so put your energy into that rather than the fear of it not happening.

I have seen this very thing in the way that people execute on their personal strategy that they have for themselves.  They get these ideas on how they want things to be but then stop there and don’t actually do the rest of the work to get them off the ground.

Have you been here? Are you here now?

If you are stuck there now, you need to rethink the strategy that you have for your workflow and the way you are doing your work.

Often CI Professionals are fantastic at teaching others how to the use the tools and can explain the principles. Where we fall down sometimes is putting these things into practice for ourselves.

If you would like some help improving your own strategy consider reaching out, I am building a waitlist for coaching spots starting in March. There are only 5 spots available and I will offer those spots in the order in which you join the waitlist.

Don’t overthink it, reach out and let’s have a quick chat to find out if you are a good fit.
