A few weeks ago, I received my first edits back. Needless to say, I had some updating to do. You can see by the picture that I haven’t done much writing in my past and there is a lot of red ink to prove that.
My editor has been great, not only making some corrections but also taking the time to explain to me why certain corrections need to be made.
So I am looking at this as an opportunity to improve my writing as I am fulfilling a goal I set for myself to publish a book.
I have since sent in another submission, and believe that it is much stronger than the first submission.
This process is teaching me that just because something is hard to do doesn’t make it the wrong thing to do. Writing a book is not for the faint of heart, that is for sure.
But the more I am allowing myself to learn, the more I am starting to enjoy the process. It is an opportunity for me to check and see if what I am writing is really getting my point across or if it is falling flat.
I am learning how to communicate with the written word better which is starting to shift how I communicate verbally. That I wasn’t expecting, but it makes sense as I am writing this.
I am looking forward to being able to get feedback on my writing now when just 6 months ago I don’t think I would have been as receptive. Truly it is creating a feeling of ikigai.
It is giving me a sense of joy and is building a sense of life purpose that I believe I am here for.
So, I will leave you here, my goal is to publish this book in the summer and I genuinely am proud of my work. I can’t wait to share it with you.
