I took a week off and went out to the mountains

Last week I took some time away as I am approaching the official launch of my new book. It was great to get some time in the forest and the mountains and sit beside a river.

Taking time away from the hustle for me is an integral part of who I am and what I need to be successful and feel most like myself.

On this particular trip, we hiked almost 20 miles over 4 days. Hiked up on top of a minor peak and had some pretty epic views.

What was most memorable for me was the last morning. I took this picture from my camp chair while drinking my morning tea, watching and listening to the river. It was so relaxing to just sit and be.

Coming back to civilization this week, I am feeling recharged and ready to push to get the last few details ironed out with my book.

It never ceases to become apparent to me that spending time in nature is vital to my health. Not just my physical health from carrying heavy loads in my backpack but also my mental and spiritual health. It is also a big part of my ikigai and where I find meaning for life in general.

If you don’t already have a regular practice of getting out into nature, I would encourage you to do so. I believe it is a necessary component of being able to truly find work:life harmony for yourself.

What are some of your favorite places to go when you go to nature?
